Maternity nurses generally only provide care for mother and baby. They can be invaluable to help prepare for the arrival of a child. After the child has arrived they can assist the mother to recover from the birth. This can be useful for those mothers that perhaps do not have close family support, particularly for first time mothers. Also, those mothers which have experienced a caesarian birth or a multiple birth would find a maternity nurse invaluable help. A maternity nurses duties may include being on call 24 hours per day for 6 days per week. Dealing with all of the baby laundry. Help to establish good sleeping patterns. Bathing the baby. Keeping the nursery area clean and tidy. Develop and maintain feeding routines. Sleep with the babies at night time, ensuring that they are brought to the mother for feeding. Preparing any necessary feeds for the baby. If agreed beforehand, some may take on some extra responsibilities, like taking brothers and sisters to school. However such extras must be agreed beforehand. Payment will be from GBP 500 per week. |
